Number of cases in Spain infected by the new Covid-19 coronavirus already reached 7,805 cases in Spain, among them 6,996 are active cases, while the number of deaths is 292, with 517 recoveries, after the confirmation of 1407 new cases and 96 new deaths, prompting the Spanish government to declare a state of emergency in the country since Saturday, and for the second time in history of the country.
The Valencian Community confirmed the first death from the virus on March 3rd, which was followed by four more in the following weeks, for a total of five in the region. Since then, 213 have been registered in Madrid, 23 in the Basque Country, 10 in Castilla-La Mancha, nine in Castilla y León, eight in Catalonia, seven in Aragon, six in Andalusia, three in La Rioja, two in Extremadura, two in Galicia, one in Asturias, one in the Balearic Islands, one in the Canary Islands and one in Navarra.
As for confirmed cases, the Community of Madrid accumulated the highest number of infections with 3,544, followed by Catalonia (715), the Basque Country (630), Andalusia (437), the Valencian Community (409) and Castilla-La Mancha (401), while 300 cases have been identified in La Rioja, 292 in Castilla y León, 196 in Navarra, 195 in Galicia, 147 cases in Aragón, 142 in Asturias, 109 cases in the Canary Islands, 95 in Extremadura, 78 in Murcia - one of them a five-month-old baby, 55 in the Balearic Islands, 51 in Cantabria and eight in Melilla. Ceuta has confirmed its first case this Sunday, March 15, 2020.
